Mission Statement
Our unofficial mission is to put ourselves right out of business: If we can convince people to spay and neuter their pets, there would not be this overpopulation of animals who are unwanted. Only 1/3 of dogs and cats that are born end up in a loving home…the rest are dumped, they starve, they are prey for wild animals, etc.
Our Official Mission Statement
Swan Valley Animal Protection League endeavours to protect, shelter and promote the adoption of homeless animals; to provide education about responsible pet ownership, and to reduce pet over-population through the promotion of spay/neutering, to the best of our abilities.
Area Served
Swan Valley Animal Protection League is a volunteer-based organization dedicated to rescuing and rehoming stray and abandoned animals. Our practice serves a large area of the community with animals rescued from areas within a 60 – 70 mile radius of the Town of Swan River. There are no other shelters serving our area and we operate solely on donations and fundraising. Our current shelter houses only cats with an average of 45 cats in our care. We use foster homes for the dogs in our care and currently have only 8 foster homes.
